Lake Minnewanka

The beautiful weather continued throughout last weekend so we headed out to Lake Minnewanka. The trail dries up fairly quickly out there so it was busy with hikers, mountain bikers and us runners. It was great to see so many people out on the trail, enjoying our first warm weather of the year.

Bike ride

I love riding my bike from Banff to Canmore as the scenery is incredible and the shoulder is nice and wide. Friday last week was a fantastic, warm spring day so Steve drove my car to the town next door and then ran back to Banff on the trails and I rode my bike to Canmore, picked up my car and continued with my errands for the day.

Life is sweeeeet!!!

I had to work on Friday and spent yesterday in Cowtown buying some new toys so today was time for my long run. I've only just gotten back to running regularly again and it's only been for about 35 minutes at a time but today I did 2 hours non-stop. It felt awesome!! Spring is in the air and it was lovely to see so many people out and about enjoying the Easter weekend. I chose to run around the Banff Springs golf course and out to Cave and Basin and back. Even after 14 years of living here, I'm gobsmacked every day by the sheer beauty of the place. And the wonder of sharing the landscape with so many animals; I saw loads of elk, squirrels and a coyote.

Tunnel Mountain

Yesterday evening was gorgeous; it's definitely feeling spring-like in Banff at the moment so Steve and myself made the most of it and hiked up Tunnel after work. It's only a few minutes from home and is a popular trail for locals and tourists. This is the view from the back side, looking onto Mount Rundell. Despite living here for 14 years, I'm still blown away on a daily basis by the beauty of the mountains. I went for a short run this morning and felt pretty good so am really excited to be getting going again. Yahoo!!!
